Safety
Loveline brings adults together for one-to-one voice dates. Here is how to leave, report and control what you share. No signup or safety process guarantees another person's behaviour.

QLife 1800 184 527, 3pm to midnight, free LGBTIQ+ peer support.

During an event, use the in-app Report control for an immediate safety exit. Email hello@loveline.events for support. Staff monitor it during events with a five-minute acknowledgement target; outside events, we respond within two working days. Email is not an emergency service.
Age and photo checks
Everyone confirms they are 18 or over and supplies their own date of birth. Age and profile details are self-declared. We do not perform background checks. If a saved date of birth is wrong, support can correct it.
A recent primary photo clearly showing your face is required. The team manually checks all photos before another attendee sees them. This is a content check, not identity verification. No impersonation, misleading alteration, nudity, genitalia, explicit sexual content or abusive or unsafe imagery. Up to two extra photos are optional; their review does not delay admission when your primary is approved.
Leave
Tap End this date, then confirm. You do not need to give a reason. The date ends for you and you move to waiting, where the next eligible opportunity is shown. It does not immediately skip you to another partner. A technical drop is different from choosing to leave: rejoin while your place is still available, or follow the waiting instructions if it has been reassigned.
Report
Tap Report and confirm you want to leave and report. You leave the date before completing the form, without a second Leave confirmation. Choose a category and write what happened. Categories include under-18 concern, harassment, violence or threats, unwanted sexual behaviour, hate or discriminatory abuse, impersonation, inappropriate or misleading photos, spam or scam, and other.
Your draft stays with the original partner and date when the schedule changes. You are not paired while writing it. After submitting or cancelling, explicitly return to dating when you are ready. Report earlier dates from My Events even without a connection, or report a visible photo/profile. You never need to remain in danger to make a report count.
Every report reaches staff. The first qualifying in-event report privately warns the reported person about the reported conduct as a concern, not a finding of guilt. A second independent qualifying report in the same event moves them to an admin lobby for staff review. This is a temporary safety hold, not an automatic ban.
A report contributes to automatic escalation only when:
you were both on the date for at least 20 seconds
the event is still running
it is not another report about the same incident
the reporters are independent and from different booking groups
you have not already contributed to an automatic lobby escalation in this event
fewer than two of your reports in the previous 12 months have been found unfounded
These conditions gate automation only. Short-date, late and profile reports still reach staff. An unproven report is not automatically a deliberately false one. Staff can disable automatic escalation while keeping manual coverage, and act urgently on credible concerns without waiting for two reports.
We record submission time, the relevant date timeline and technical attendance state. You may give an estimated occurrence time; it is labelled as your estimate. There is no recording or transcript to attach. Tell us in your own words.
The admin lobby and review
A safety hold pauses dating, new connections, further profile/contact disclosure and unsent connection notices. Staff explain the concern privately without naming the reporter or quoting identifying details. You can wait, leave or contact support; leaving does not clear the hold. A separate staff conversation is voluntary and has explicit microphone controls. Hosts never join or listen to private dates.
Staff decide whether to restore access, retain a hold or remove someone. Bans across events are manual decisions after review. An under-18 guest cannot participate; use the Underage concern category if concerned. We may refer a child-at-risk concern to police or the eSafety Commissioner. A report alone does not determine a refund.
We explain sanctions privately by email. Write to hello@loveline.events to appeal; we respond within two working days and use another reviewer where possible. An unjustified removal receives a refund.
Block
You can block from a report, an earlier date or a connection. Blocking prevents future pairing and further access to each other's profile and contact details. Staff cannot override a block to fill a date. Where a planned date becomes unavailable, we try a safe replacement or show waiting.
We do not identify who reported or blocked someone. Timing may still allow an inference. Blocking cannot erase information or a screenshot someone already saved.
Hosts and privacy
Team hosts share event and report state, with a primary and backup assigned before the lobby opens. They see attendance, technical connection state and reports, and can make recorded safety decisions. If neither can cover the event, we end it safely and apply refunds.
Hosts never join, listen to or record private dates. Loveline never records or transcribes date audio. Recording another person, including screen recording or photographing a revealed profile, breaks our rules. We cannot prevent someone using another device, so consider what you share.
What your partner sees
Your first name and calculated age are shown during a date. Optional non-contact profile fields you agreed to share have the same visibility during dates and on connection profiles. Your date of birth stays private. Your approved primary photo appears with 60 seconds remaining; access ends when either person leaves or reports, and safety controls can revoke it sooner.
Only a confirmed connection unlocks approved optional secondary photos and the phone, email or Instagram details you selected. Supplying a sign-in contact is not permission to share it. Withdraw sharing in Settings; changes affect subsequent access and unsent messages, but cannot recall details already delivered or saved. Your individual choices and private notes are never shown to a partner.
Meeting afterwards and complaints
If you meet in person, choose a public place, arrange your own transport and tell someone you trust. We cannot see or control what happens outside the service.
If we handled something badly, email hello@loveline.events. A person responds within two working days. The privacy page explains complaints to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. For online abuse, the eSafety Commissioner takes complaints at esafety.gov.au.
